My experience at Ministry of Transportation yesterday.

It's about 10:00am. Ministry of Transportation.

My number is called, A44. I walked to the lady on window 2, handed my
Chinese Driver's License to her. I've had the license for 4 years. I know I
can just take the knowledge test and get my G1 without waiting a year
for it.
"Sorry, you need to translate it into English, otherwise you must take the
road test as if you a new to driving and don't have any experience in
China."
I am amazing. I've never heard about this policy before. And it will take
me some more days, maybe, just for translation. "So, Is it a new policy?
When did it start?"
"A couple of months ago."
I express my upset but rule is rule, what can I do? She started writing
something on a piece of paper.
"You can go to this place. about $25 for translation, then you just need to
pay $60 for your new driver's license. "
"Thanks a lot."
She even draw a scratch of the place I need to go. I found it's just a block
away. Not very far, maybe I can get it done, and come back to take the test.
I want everything done today.
"Thanks a lot, you are so kind."
It makes no sense for my husband to wait for his number now. We are the same
situation, he's been driving all the time in China, but still need translation
now. I asked him to go with me. We went to the small translation office on
Bay and Bloor. I am lucky, I was told that I can come back and get the
translation at 2:00pm. But the price is not what the kind lady said. It's
$45 + tax for each person.
After a 3 hours reading at Indigo, I went back there to fetch my official
translation document. 3 stamps each page, very official.
"You have Chinese translator in your company?" I am curious.
"No, actually, we have a template in our computer, what we need is to fill
it."...
Whatever.
At least we have enough time for finishing the knowledge test today. When I
went back to the Ministry of Transportation, the kind lady was not there.
The girl who met me asked for my original Chinese driver's license when I
handed my translation to her, why? You got this translation in your
language, isn't it official?
Then I went to the window at which my husband was interviewed. The man is a
Chinese.
"Oh, sorry, I forget to give you this." My husband handed him the
translation.
"We don't need this."
"What? But why the lady asked me to get it?"
"Perhaps because she don't understand Chinese."
... ...
I passed my computer test, and got my G1. BUT I AM NOT HAPPY.
Are govenment officials always that casual in Canada?更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
