Stats Can report says downward drop in want ads continues
OTTAWA (CP) - The demand for workers
continued to fall in June, extending a trend
which began in November, a Statistics
Canada survey indicates.

The agency's help-wanted index, which
measures the number of help-wanted ads in
22 newspapers in 20 major metropolitan
areas across the country, fell 1.8 per cent in
June after slipping 2.4 per cent in May.

A rising index suggests employers are
seeking workers, a falling index that they need fewer workers.

How the latest indicator translates into jobs gained or lost will be known
tomorrow when Statistics Canada releases employment-unemployment
figures for June. The unemployment rate was 7.0 per cent in May.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
