It really doesn't matter too much whether you graduate from York or U of Waterloo for those people who want to hire you in US, as long as you have the skills they are after. To them, you are from a generic school-- a canadian school( it's analogous to the feeling when you think of an Australian school). However , for some important positions, such as senior architect, chief scientist, or say, anything that is more academic and focuses more on research, a graduate background from a good school really helps, Also, if you decide to go to a top 5 business school in US for MBA, a degree in a top 20 CS program and a 4.0 GPA can push yourself a little bit ahead of other applicants, which often makes a difference when comptition is intense.
