Canada’s inflation-adjusted debt when Trudeau took office in 2015 was $612.3 billion ($764 billion in 2023 dollars). As of August, it’s $1.2 trillion. Even after adjusting for inflation, this means that Trudeau inherited more than 100 years of accumulated Canadian debt and still managed to swell it by 60 per cent.
