Drive to Valley view mall, La Crosse. 3800 WI-16, La Crosse, WI, about 12hours.
Stay overnight. Backup: Blue bird campground, N2833 Smith Valley Rd, La Crosse.
OR Great river bluffs state park, 43605 Kipp Dr, Winona, MN
Sept. 4, Sunday
Next day, Visit international friendship garden. 345-, 405 E Veterans Memorial Dr, La Crosse, WI. Have breakfast there. About 1-1.5 hours. Drive to Custer State Park, 13438 US Highway 16A, Custer, ( Sylvan lake campground, 24581 SD-87, Custer, SD ) about 10 hours. Backup site: Kemp’s Kamp, 1022 Old hill city road, keystone, SD.
Sept. 5, Monday
Black Elf peak hike, and Mt. Rushmore National memorial (13000 SD-244, Keystone, SD). About 4 hours.
Drive to Cody, Wy, to Yellowstone Old faithful snow lodge. About 7 hours.
Sept. 6, Day 1
Lower Geyser Basin (drive to fountain paint pot trail, hike the trail; then drive alone the Firehole lake dr. to see some geysers and drive to next.)
Grand Prismatic Spring (Take the trail, after this drive to next.)
Fairy Falls Trailhead ( Grand prismatic spring overlook, and Fairy falls)
Old Faithful Inn
Old Faithful Geyser ( Take trail to morning glory pool.?)
Sept. 7, Day 2
Lamar Valley (CLOSDE!)
Mammoth Hot Springs (Go directly here and then take grand loop rd. to the following )
Mount Washburn Trail
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: (take trail to lookout point and grand view, and then drive to Inspiration point.( N rim dr.))
Upper Falls—Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
Lower Falls of the Yellowstone
Uncle Tom's Trail (CLOSED!, GO to Artist Point instead, very good too. (S rim dr.), stop at upper falls view.)
Sept. 8, Day 3
Hayden Valley (Visit Yellowstone Caldera first? Ask how to go there), drive alone grand loop Rd. (20)
Fishing Bridge Visitor Center
Storm Point ( trail)
Drive to Meadowlark Lake Wy, about 3 hours. Stay at meadowlark lake observation point, Exit Hyw 16 at 426, ( After lake view bighorn ) then go to 427 then go to right side of 427. OR at lake view campground, Bighorn National Forest, Forest Road #424, Ten Sleep, WY .
Sept. 9, Drive to Great river bluffs state park, 43605 Kipp Dr, Winona, MN camp. About 12 hours.
Sept. 10, Drive to Home. About 12 hours.
