We used to have a teacher that emphasized on creativity and I liked him very much. But after a while he received complaints from both students and parents accusing him not emphasizing on the materials for the university entrance exam (hence probably won't get high score in the exam)! So he had to change the way/style he tought.

That's because of, like you said, extreme high competition. Why is that? because we don't have that many universities. Why is that? Because we don't have that much funding for the education or the government is reluctant to put in money in education.
