本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Kathleen Wynne has proposed to bring back the
sex education curriculum that was shelved back in 2010. At a press conference on Oct. 30, 2014, she announced that changes are due to be implemented in September, 2015.

The 2010 version, written when Wynne was Minister of Education, caused so much uproar that then premier, Dalton McGuinty, was forced to recall it immediately.

Here is an example of a suggested teacher prompt in the 2010 curriculum for discussing the changes associated with puberty with students in grade 6:

Premier Dalton McGuinty said in 2010 that insufficient consultation with parents had taken place on the curriculum and it would have to go back for a re-think.

Yet here, in 2014, parents still have not been broadly consulted on the new curriculum. A survey of one parent per elementary school on general attitudes toward teaching about sex education --but not the curriculum itself -- is currently underway. The parents have been hand-picked by the principals, and provided a one-time link to an electronic survey.

The survey instructions don't direct anyone to collect and provide input from other school parents, and many of you who have been involved in or inquired about the process wrote us that you were shocked at the Premier's claim in the Legislature last week that the parent council chairs will be gathering and providing feedback from the parental community in the survey process.

Christina Blizzard reflected our concerns that the survey is just a formality, and not the broad based parent consultation the curriculum deserves. We copy the article below.

If after reading it you can take a moment to forward our online petition against introducing explicit information into Ontario sex education classes, we would greatly appreciate it. The link is:

Thanks again for your help in spreading the word about Wynne's plans for sex ed curriculum changes and your support of PAFE!
Together, we can make a difference!

Best regards,
