Single Java skills do not make much sense in the job market. You also need know something about database and web programming....

We often hear that some smart guys changed themselves into a programmer or a DBA with 3 or 4 months. But I don't think everybody can do that. Take myself as an example. It took me almost one year to learn Java, databse, HTML, .... before I got the first job. Tons of frustrations.
