本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛What? What? You jabber stay in USA and you ask us not to come. You selfish thing!

Well, I have uttered the word some people might want to say.

Recently, a lot of small companies are dying in my area. Corresondingly, some Chinese H1-B holders are losing jobs. In USA, it is a challeging thing to be on H1-B. These H1-B holders need to find a new job within a short time. Otherwise, they will be no longer to stay in USA legally or they will be in trouble in the future green card processing.

During past few weeks, some Chinese H1-B holders found my boss and ask ed our company to sponsor their H1-B. For this, they need pay a big price: they pay money to my boss and my boss "pays" them a salary. Even my boss does not make one penny from them, these people will lose 30% of their money in such a game. At least, my boss needs to use their money to pay Social Security tax, and these people need to pay income tax after they get their "salary".

More importantly, not all the people can find an H1-B sponsor. My boss just helps the people recommended by reliable friends (No one volunteers to do such things.) Some of laid-off H1-B holders have to change their immigration status into student visa.

USA is heaven, but it is hell for those without a green card.

For the friends in Canada, if you want to come to USA, be sure to come after you become a Canadia citizen. It is important to have a back-up for your life.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
    • Even after you get the GC, you still have to stay in US for at least half a year each year, until you get your US citizenship, the process of which can take up to 7 years after your GC approval.
    • So glad to hear from you again.
    • need more on working in the US......
When I graduated last year, I tried to find a job in the US. Usually they would ask me if I am legal to work in the states. I guess that means if I am a GC holder or has a H1-B visa. (I thnk NT visa doesn't count). So I was a little bit confused: You got to have a working visa in order to find a job; but you can get a working visa ONLY you found a job in the states.

Do you have any info about how to dealing this matter and working in the US? ( I mean in X years, and if by that time I still like US/USD)
      • You will have a year of "practical training" after you get out of the school, during this one year period, you are free to work for anybody. You need to file for H-1B visa in this one year.
      • when they ask 'r u legal to work in the states?' equals to 'r u citizen, GC holder or TN-1 visa holder?' if u need to get H-1, tell them that 'u need H-1 sponsorship.' that's it.
    • jabber,read this. #105897
