U got it! We really bring our landing paper and passport running on the street. It is stupid idea, but this is the fact. Hey hey ... But a more advanced ID will be coming in the near future. Do not know how near though.

Driver's Licence should be a suitable ID. Don't worry about it.

After you settle down, take a test(it's terribly easy) and you can get a G1 driver's license, with your basic info and photo on it. Normally you can use it as your identity.

After you are landed, you can apply SIN card and other photo ID's (like Driver' license, medical card...). There is no police to check your ID on the street. You only need landing paper when you deal with the Government.
