    As a Canadian in your riding that voted for you in the past federal election, I feel the urge to write to you in order to express my grave concerns over the hijab-cutting incident that took place in Toronto the other day. The incident, together with the handling of the incident by the Toronto police, has drawn tremendous attention from the Asian Canadian community.

    The reported hijab-cutting incident, which was quickly condemned by the Prime Minister, was later revealed as 'did not happen' by the Toronto police, without disclosing any details as to what really happened, why this happened, and how such incident can be prevented from happening again in the future.

    I would like to ask for your help to request the Toronto police to disclose sufficient information pertaining to this incident in a public, fair and responsible manner. I believe each every Canadian has the right to know what happened in our communities, esp. those that hurt the feelings of certain ethnic groups within this diversified country, and, as a tax payer, whether the utilitization of public resources is fair and responsible.

    Therefore, I want to see more transparency in the handling of this incident by the Toronto police and I'm looking to you for assitance to get the clarity in the matter. Thank you.更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

        I am sure that we all learned from this episode in different ways. Without confirmed evidence, the officials and the media started their speculations without proper ethical considerations. I can't speculate whether the original allegation had been planned and I sincerely hope it wasn't and it would not be to harm Asians or any other race in this country.

        It was improper that a person, a minor in this case, falsely reported an allegation. It might not have broken any laws and the offender's codes, but as An Asian, I did feel assaulted when the official and media exploded with their biased opinions.

        I strongly advocate equal treatments to any and all citizens and permanent residents in this country. I will perform my duty and call for the same duties to me too.

        The police department has earned my respect for this time and I will continue my support to the policemen and policewomen who guarding our communities.
