builder use densshield. it's faster to install, light weight, easy to cut, and design of exactly for that purpose. Cement board is fine too but it lacks the above benefits.

the benefits of the densshield boards are obvious. But for me, it sounds that those are more beneficial to the builders but not to the buyers. By the way, I have an acquaintance who works for the builder as an estimator and she told me that her company uses cement backerboad when building the houses.
Of course it does. I custom built my house. Budgeting is important. Ease of installation is important. Denshield cost the same as cement board by the way. Also an estimator might not know exactly what is used in the field. When I was in high school,

I was an estimator for an engineering firm doing reserve fund studies.
You just measure from the drawings and cost base on a price from a book.
I like to use newer material. They are generally better designed and very specific for its purpose. Just like I like PEX over copper pipe...
淋浴间的复杂在于从上到下的要求是不一样的。一个比较宽敞的淋浴间（比如4' x 6')，上面装一个落雨的淋蓬头，rain shower，水直接就淋到地上，对墙的要求就不那么严格了。瓷砖后面五花八门的。有用becker board, densshield, schluter kerti, etc. 小的淋浴间（比如3'x3'），太多的水溅到墙上，防水就比大淋浴间显得重要。
对于淋浴间的地面，就要谨慎一点。moisture resistant is not good enough。还是坚持做防水盆。
