You may have already Installed IBM HTTP server as a service. It has already started up automatically. If you try to start again, you don't have luck because port number 80 has been used already.

I checked the port in admin.conf.it was set to 8008.I have got the same error message before when i started IBM HTTP Server.after i

modified the httpd.conf file by seting the ServerName=localhost.it started successfully.i suspect if it is because i don't install a netcard in my computer.but it's unreasonable.

I have ever met the similar problem. But I did not remember ...sorry. HTTP server assumes you run a DNS. Since you don't have, you need to define ServerName.
yes, I think you already started up your server.
you don't need start again.
