  • 工作学习 / IT杂谈 / I'm a MCDBA for many years in ShenZhen Can I find a job in CA?Which city is best for me? Thanks.
    • Please enlighten us: what is MCDBA?
      • Microsoft database administrator
        • I think there should be some opportunities for you, but how good are you?
Please visit www.workopolis and search for key words MCDBA, SQL, MS and SQL. You can get a sense.

If you just know MS SQL, it is hard for you to get jobs in Canada. Companies always want you to have 100 skills and just use two or three of them. If you know some VB and VC, your chance will be much much bigger.
        • many years of experience.
in addition to db administration, now I always use
case tools to model data.then create DB,relations, triggers and procedures
          and keep data integrality
I have developed some large database systems which is used in a large site company.
          • Oh, you are a veteran...
MS SQL is limited to Windows platform and used by some small companies in North America. It is not as popular as Oracle and DB2 and ...If I were you, I would play some time on Oracle and change some of MS SQL experiences into Oracle experiences.

If you have a good communication and
language skill, you may play a DB architect role. However, few Chinese immigrants can get such a position.... I guess you are an MS SQL expert, but I suggest you don't confine yourself on MS SQL. We need to follow the job market.
            • thank you.
I agree with you. Now,I'm trying to transfer to Oracle. I know many large companies use
Oracle in North America. As you say ,To be a
data modeler needs good comunication skills. I'm not sure. Although to be a programmer is not my expectation. I have to
follow the job market as you say. After a period of time ,maybe I can do what I like. I know VC++,VB,ASP,PHP and a liitle Java. I had been a programmer for many years, last yearI became a db architect. Because I think as I 'm getting older, programming is no longer suitable for me. Perhaps,I have to be a programmer when I emigrate to Canada.
but after I'm sure with my English communication skills,I'll manage to be a data modeler. jabber, could you tell me what you intend to do when you no longer want to a programmer?
