What's the error message? After installing Solaris 8, the initial boot up screen should be a blue background screen with options of which OS you want to boot.

Thanks. Actally I use system commander2000 to split my hard drive an extra non-dos partition. Then when I install the solaris in that partition, there is no blue backgroud screen appear.

Even win98 can't start.( I use back up restart).Can you please tell me how to install solaris in one harddisk i have win98 already there. how do harddisk know start win98 or unix?
If you have only 2 OSes on your harddrive, you don't need to install system commander. Third party boot loaders tend to screw up solaris installation (I had the same problem with OSBS) and I can't figure out why.

Just install win98 first, then solaris. The solaris boot loader knows how to find which OS to boot.
when i install Solaris 8, in one screen: it has to choose partition. I choose 2 to solaris.

Int13h use 10bits for the cylinder number, or 1024 cylinders. In other words, BIOS can access only the first 1024 cylinders of your hd.

So partition your hd so that solaris partition is a last primary partition that begins, but not necessarily ends, within the first 1024 cylinders.
As to X86 Solaris 2.x , the most important drviers I think is display card driver. Which display card is more populor and cheaper?
