    • Try some good schools in US, if your GRE score is good enough.
I went to Northwestern U for MS in CS right
after I landed in Canada. It seemed to me that
US schools, even the top ones, are less selective(although more competitive) than canadian schools. Because
I got rejected by both U of victoria and U of Toronto before I got I-20 from Northwestern.
during the years of studying and working in US, I realized that Northwestern is actually much more prestigious than any top canadian schools. So by going to the US alternative, you can bump up your career competitivity. Furthermore, you don't have to worry about your immigrant status because Immigration Canada will certainly have no problem issuing you return resident permit due to the fact that you are studying in US, which is considered for sure as an activity to improve your personal skills.
      • Sam, I also want to study in US right after Ianding, but many people said that......
it is impossible for Chinese landed immigrant to get US visa from Canada unless he has a stable job in Canada or lived there 6 months. So I wonder how you got the visa? Moreover, if I have a rejected record in my passport, can I just pass? Another question, how many GRE do you think is high enough? for CS master program in most decent US university. Thank you!
            • Sorry, I had been on a business trip for the past couple of days. I think you should have no problem getting an F-1 visa if you have scholarship and tuition waiver from the US school.
If you don't have any kind of fellowship, don't even think about going there, because US schools are super expensive.

The family bond I maintained in Toronto back then was that my parents and sisters were
all canadian citizens, most of them worked
              in canada .
              • Thanks!
