在加读研，要不要考GRE？怎么有的人说要考，但很多资料上又说不需要？我是学电信的，不知这个专业QUEEN怎样？先生原学的是机械，由于工作脱离专业，想改向读计算机本科，不知大家觉得如何？最后，有人说在加考托福简单些，因为有语言环境，是真的吗？多谢各位大虾。

Queen is best for its MBA. I don't know its telecommunication.

a very interesting phenomenon---carleton's overall rank is relatively low, but it enjoys high reputation in technical fields. as a competitor in ottawa, carleton is better than OU, which has its own characteristics.

the main reason that carleton is ranked low overall is because its arts and social science programs and the enrollment policies. on the other hand, carleton's EE, CS telecommunication , mechanical and aerospace... programs, i can use a few words to describe:

excellent
challenging
high-quality
highly competent
cuttin-edge

in 1 word they r 1 of the best in these programs. esp those EE/CS/tele... people, you will find the programs is very useful and related to industries (Nortel, Alcaetel, Corel... u name it),

it is needless to say that carleton's engineering/cs/tele students are very readily to get a good offer in the capital region or out of ottawa

1. all best telecommunication professors go to Carlton
2. Nortel, Newbridge and those telecommunicaion giants all invest in this
university and hire a LOT from this university. I know these giants
also hire from U of T, Waterloo or out UWO, but far less than from
Carlton.
3. I can say, even though waterloo is the best for its computer science
in Canada, its telecommunication is not as good as Carlton.
4. Telecommunication is a very special field. you have have known in toronto
we have Java school, Unix school, Project School, Msce school, but you will
never see a small school be able to offer telecommunication education.
the lab costs you heaven. A small box at the size of a microwave costs
you some 200,000 CAD easily. You need hundreds of them for a initial lab
for only ATM!!!!. But telecommunication also includes TDM, Analogue, MSN,
. You name it.

5. in a long term, choose carlton is not as good as U of T if Carlton can't
remain leading position for long. But who knows if it will be a second
waterloo in this field. By choosing U of T, even though it is just a general
school, it is good for overall evaluation. May be it is easier for your
long term development.

In a short term, for best telecommunication education and best job opportunity
