I was told that as a cable user, the bandwith is shared by the numbers you couldnt estimate, so maybe sometimes it is quite slow to use cable and not stable, but as a DSL user, you can have a fix bandwith, is it true?

Yes. You are right...that's why ppl in the appartment use DSL and ppl in the house use cable.

sorry..I only know sympatico which is not bad....They actually provides 2 IP for one account, so you can share on account with another ppl. I have used it for years

if only 2 PC, you don't need a HUB, you may use crosslink wire instead.

oops..yep.it's a HUB instead of harbor...Is crosslink wire working on this ? cuz you need the third port connecting to the input source.right?

but I am sharing this with my landlord. We live in an apartment, maybe it is not that convinient to have his pc open always,BTW, he sometimes use windows98, mine pc could only install 98, so any suggestion?

It's not necessary to have his pc turned on, plus your OS does not need to comply with his OS...you two's pc are totally seperated things.

If you call them,they will say it's only for one person use...but the harbor way works for me...I am sharing one account with my friend, and we can not notice any affect of the browsing speed

So just ask the sympatico to give us two ip address, all I need is to buy a HUB, one input from dsl modem and two output for us two pcs. all these two pc has to be an DHCP client, right?
