  • 工作学习 / IT杂谈 / Regarding IT salary...
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Some people are very interested in salary standards. Here I publicize some facts:

    1) My client pays $115 USD per hour for hiring me. This money is paid to a consulting company. IT will take 30% of
this money (some of my colleage say it is 35%).

    2) My boss take the remainig money from that consulting company. My boss runs a small consulting company. He give me a salary of $80K plus some benifits such as health insurance.

    3) One may think I am silly because I allow so many people make money on me. The reason is simple: I have not got a green card
and it is my boss who sponsored my working visa.

    4) How much should I earn? I don't know. I have been satisfied by $80K. Many chinese guys tolerate low salary for green card's sake. Among such Chinese guys, my salary is high.

    5) What is the general rate for contractor in USA? If you are at senior level and have a green card, it should be $60-85 hourly. This can fluctuate in different projects. One of my Chinese colleage told me he made $85 hourly in his previous assignment.

    6) What is the highest rate? I don't know exact number. The DB architect in our present object makes $200 hourly. Interestingly enough, he is Canadian and comes from Toronto.

    7) Even I get a green card now, I don't have a dream to make more than $75 per hour. The reason is, if your pay rate is too high, you need to take a lot of responsibility.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
    • For salary info, you can refer http://www.salary.com. Trust me it is not as high as you may think, though definitely it is not low.
      • Actually, I have some figures anout IT professionals in USA and Canada. But I don't think these figures make any sense.
    • Just for curiosity, how much you need to pay the goverment for income tax? Thanks.
      • 40% of may salary goes to the tax, social insurance....
        • Much higher than I expected if you meant that in States. Thanks anyway.
          • But if I buy a house now in the USA, I can get a big deduction in tax.
    • im making 64K in vancouver as a vb/com developer, im satisfied with it.
      • As far as I know, $64K is a very good pay in Canada.
I have no interest in the salary of over $80K in Canada. I don't have that dream. I want to have a reasonable life. According to my observation, those project managers and team leaders need to undertake a lot of pressure.
        • money = pressure
maybe one can find a job in big company with both high pay and low pressure, generally this is true. in coutries like canada, it's very simple that you have to take more responsibility if you want a higher pay. it's different to state-owned enterprises in china - ways like flattering your boss don't work at all.

today i even got pressure from my recruiting agency - they found my resume on monster.ca. they warned me that I remove my resume by tomorrow otherwise they will 'pull me off'.
          • I think it is a good idea for you to withdraw your resume from monster.com. ---You don't need worry about the job.
