    这家大公司6月初刊登广告招人,要C++,Delphi,Sql Server 和Oracle,
    我在7月中旬才得到面试,以下是我的经历
    第一个星期:
    周二通知周五面试
    周五准时到达,先是人事部门的,半小时,很简单,他们需要两人,一个是
    为香港作汉化项目,要懂粤语,我是北方人,不懂粤语,只能说,普通话和粤语在
    文法上一样,只是发音不同。然后是技术部门约一个小时,主要问道以前的工作
    背景,我在加拿大有一年多的工作经验(春节回家过年,把以前的工作辞了,
    也是小公司,心想还能找到大公司,这是我的严重失误,错误的估计了今年的形式)
    当时谈的很愉快,他们答应我两星期后有结果。我知道我是第三个面试,后面还有大约
    十几个人,可能需要面试一星期

    第二星期:
    周一发感谢信,人事部门打电话来要我的References,并且要提供社会卡号码,授权他们查我的有关
    信息,我也不知道他们要查什么,一共给了四个加拿大的,一个中国的。
    周五得知他们在早上查了两个加拿大的。是本地人。估计应该有戏。

    第三星期:
    周三人事部门打电话来,说要作技术考试,具体时间周五再定,可能为下周
    周五下午还没有得到人事部门的通知,打电话过去问,说具体时间下周再定

    第四星期;
    周三得到人事部门的电话说下周二考试,为笔试

    第五星期;
    周一加拿大的一个Reference(中国人)打电话说刚作了Reference Check,只是
    人事问题,到现在一共查了我的三个Reference。
    周二去考试,只考 C++的基本概念,很简单,为问答题,一小时完成,得知一共五人
    参加考试,取两个人,没有多说话。下午收到人事部门的E-mail,要我第四个Reference
    的电话(我已经给过了,可能因为传真不清楚,弄错了〕
    周三发感谢信给技术部门,再次确认第四个人的电话没问题,又给人事部门发
    E-mail,说明情况
    周五,确认第四个Reference已于两天前查过,至此在加拿大的Reference都查了,
    包括一个中国人的。打电话给人事部门,得知还没有最后定,还要再等一星期。
    不过我想,他们在我考试后又查了我的Reference,应该就没问题,于是天天盼有好消息。

    第六周
    周三(今天〕打电话给人事部门,得知管事的去度假,两星期后回来,感觉不太对,
    又给技术部门打电话,说香港项目的人已经定下来了,还有一个职位不是他们组的,
    不知道。

    我彻底失望了,一个公司就两个职位,不可能都要中国人,为了这个职位,我一共
    等了将近六个星期,两周后,等人事主管回来,估计只是一句Sorry。

    在整个过程中我有以下困惑;
    1。他们要我的社会卡号,到底能查到什么?我的背景都是清白的
    2。为什么在我第一次面试后就开始查我的Reference?这与其他人在最后查Reference不一样
    3。如果我的技术考试不好,他们就不应该查我的第四个Reference,对吗?
    4。也是没有用的问题,我还有戏吗?

    • 中国大陆来的人很多都编简历, 现在的雇主都怕了.
    • 现在check reference是委托专业公司与面食同步进行. SIN卡可能是查你的经济信用情况和有无过失(如严重的交通罚单等). 我一朋友进银行工作就查了. 所以不要开快车呀,不要老想着享受驾驶乐趣呀,哈哈
    • 别灰心,再等等。一边等,一边继续找工。
    • 因为先来的大陆人大部分都写假简历,找到了工作,大家觉得有便宜占,都跟着弄虚作假,结果人家再也不信任你了,后来的就遭罪了。别以为那些洋人好骗,
      他比你精得很,你骗了他一次,他就一辈子都不信任你,从心里看不起你,要你付出沉重的代价。中国人太精明了,有时候却是聪明反被聪明误。

    • 你還不錯。我一朋友爲了進那個全加拿大最該死的公司,等了足足6個月,終于搬去了渥太華!呵呵,真金也不見得有幾個能禁得住這麽鍊,甭說那些假貨了。

            • in my opinion, two weeks time window should be enough for an employer to decide whether to hire a particular candidate or not, right?
              also I thought I did well during the interview since I'd spent three full days to study their organization, including their structure, products, fiscal report, etc.

              so there is no definite answer within three weeks, I think.
              1. I am not the ideal candidate derive from the interview in their mind.
              2. all of the candidate are roughly staying in a related same level, so they are still looking for more suitable candidate.
              3. their process time is really a little bit longer, say longer than 3 weeks.
              4. they reject me.
              any advice.
      • 不要失去耐心. 保持联系是必要的, 但不要这样push他们.
      • Don't lose your hope, However, you may try other job opportunities.

      I am in Virginia, USA. We hired a few people recently. We made our decision right after we walked out the job candidates. Whenever we found some candiates are good, we decide to hire him/her immediately. Our job references are usually done within two days. Actually, our job references are kind of formalities. The reason is that we believe our own judgements on the job candidates.

      The company you coped with is too burearatic and stupid. Not all the companies do things like them.

      By the way, do not give up in any case. Let me tell you a true story. I have not posted my notes here for a long time because I have been very very busy. The project of our company was outsourced to a big consultant company before I came in. We found that it is not doing well. We have decided to take it back and develop it in-house. The big company losted the contract so it laid off some programmers. One female Indian programmer called us and asked us if we can hire her, We walked her in and gave her an interview. The first question I asked her is: "Do you think you guys have done a great job at XXX company? " Her answer is: " I am not at the position to take responsibity for the whole system, but I can say I have done a perfect job in the subsystem I worked on." I am not satisfied with her answer ( I have the previlige to be picky at our job candidates). I overwhelmed her with a series of questions and some Java quizs. As the interview was ended, she has completely lost her confidence. However, I decided to hire her as a contractor right after she left our company. The reason is simple: We need her expertise. I destroyed her confidence in the interview because I need to show her that she needs to follow my instructions after she joins my team. This is the life. We just play the game according to some rules. The most important thing is we should never lose our hope. You don't know when the opportunities will cater to you. The indian lady is a typical example. She got the offer from a person who bashed her so hard.

      • 这是少见的例子吧?多数情况是坚持到底,不被interviewer摧毁就是胜利,至少已经尽力,没有错误。
