    本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Since early this year, a group of Chinese friends living in Toronto has been organizing quite a few group activities - ball room dancing around Valentine's Day and Easter, St. Patrick's ski day, hiking in Terra Cotter, canoeing in Rockwood, Cherry picking on Canada Day.

    The group of friends can be traced back 4 or 5 years ago, some of us are regular participants in Bay Street Chinese gatherings, we are called Bay Street Chinese because most of us are working in financial sector here, such as banks, insurance companies etc. As Wall Street in US, Bay Street is equivalent in T.O.

    Through these activities, we noticed more and more single people joining and the group has expanded to include IT professionals, MBAs, engineers and a lot more. All single people here wants is to have a platform to socialize, so here we are, "Single meet Single" party which will ensure quality time and interaction for friends still single, the goal is to enhance the life here in Toronto for young people from China.

    Our 1st “Single meet Single” party became a gem stone on August 5th, Sunday afternoon as it attracted over twenty young guys and gals to this fun and exciting event, and it was so well received that even after it’s completed, no one seems want to leave.

    The afternoon starts with a game which truly heated up the room, everyone there got excited as the game progressed, once the game ends, they seems have known each other for quite a while. For the next couple of hours each participant got their own quality time talking to the person they might be interested.

    For all the participants, it is a dynamic and serious talented group, it has IT professionals, business school students, MBAs, engineers, and they come from banks, insurance companies, mutual fund companies, multinational technology firms and etc.

    Even when the party was over, you can still feel the enthusiasm from all the participants and truly no one seems want to leave the coffee shop.

      As a result of our well received first debut and all these encouraging feedback, thank-you notes from the 1st event participants, here is the news for all our single friends, we will have our second “Single meet Single” event on Saturday September 8th near the heart of T.O. downtown. The detailed schedule and location are shown below:

      Theme: Single meet Single (by Reservation Only)
      Place: Second Cup, 475 Yonge St., 1 block north of College
      Time: Saturday September 8th, 2:00pm
      Activity: a series games, group interaction to ensure the excitement and
      quality conversation, you will have lots of fun and “maybe” you get know special someone

      First, we did a follow-up poll on the 1st event participants, news has that we already have a couple of new friends going out for their 1st dinner date, things going quite well for them.

          The amount charged equals to the services provided, incl. drinks, prize gift and all the cost associated to setting this up. We conduct pre-screening to ensure the participants are in a similar age group and education level, we design games to ensure quality interaction between participants so all single friends will have a fun, relaxed and safe gathering, and much more…

A group of Chinese friends, that is “we”, through all the group activities we organized, found a need for single people to meet each other and socialize, so we designed “Single meet Single”, it is an efficient way for single friends to know each other in a fun, exciting environment.

        It's a natural evolution from the group activities we've been organizing, that is where the introduction came from. We are not providing dating service, only a platform for single friends to get to know each other, just like dance party or Christmas party, but in much better format for single friends to socialize. It may evolve into a business in the future if we can help more single friends, but not right now and won't be dating services ever! That is the difference.
