  • 相约北美 / 移民留学 / 瘦猪, how can I get a GST Number and BIN number for my self-employed company? Thanks
    • Hey, I don't know what kind of business you are gonna work, but if your revenue is below 30G then you don't need one, otherwise, visit CCRA at 1 Front street, or if it's just for getting a GST/HST#,then you just call
    • Also, a Business Number which you can get from CCRA, contains four major numbers associate with your biz, one of them is your gst#,
      • I work in IT as a contract. What is 3G mean? sorry, My english is not so good.
        • I said 30G, 30 Grand, 30000,
          • Haha, have you heard any guy in IT is less than 30K? especially for a contract job.
            • Relly depends on how long is the contract term.
              • ok. my income is over 30K.
                • Then you are REQUIRED to apply a GST registration number and you must include this GST# on every invoice to your customer.
Go to Revenue Canada's home page to find the nearest place to your home. I know there is one near North York Center subway station, on Yonge. There are computers for you to get a GST# for yourself. DIY! Take care and good luck!
                  • how about oversea customer?
                    • Same deal, per se, you are not getting a GST number, at #1 Front Street CCRA, you get a Business number, which contains your GST and payroll number, it is for you to report your worldwide income,
If you are working for a US based company then the gst rebate will be based on the state sales tax of that particular state, which is based on the 1987 tax treaty between CDN and usa,

In your situation, which we have discussed in detail previously, worry about the IRS, the canadian side is cool, you are getting away with it, and DON'T GET YOURSELF ON THE HOOK
                  • 林妹妹, 瘦猪, Thanks all of you. You are so kind.
