    • I prefer cable access.
        • for the ADSL, you have to dial up to get the access, this dialing is fast, but it's still a dail up. That's the reason I pick the cable.
    • Use ASDL if you are living in an apartment, otherwise either way would be fine. ASDL is kinda stabler more or less.
    • P.S. There is promotion for both Rogers cable and Sympatico ASDL...120 rebate for the first half a year from Rogers, 19.90 /moth for the first half a year from sympatico
        • I have used both, Cable is not stable since it's built on the cable Tv network, which on average is 30 years old, so there are lots of physical problems with the infrastrue, but it's hands down, faster, no questions
there, ADSL mainly had to deal with technical difficulties since the current telephone network in canada is merely 15 years old or so and it's better maintained since it's not generally exposed like the cable tv system.
            • Major down time and especially Rogers caps the node per person quota, I am still using Cable, Shaw Cable was pretty good, when it was still around
                • every saturday night, and whenever it rains severely
              • Is there any difference between Shaw and Rogers?
                • Shaw no longer has a presence in Eastern Canada
        • some tech issue
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛ASDL uses telephone line to transfer data, it compresses the data 3 times the normal rate, so if you use an ASDL, whatever you send or recieve will be going through your phone line to the switch network, you are not sharing any resources with anybody living around you.cuz the phone line is fixed for one person use....

Cable uses coax cable to transfer data. The coax cable in your room will not go DIRECTLY to the data network, all the cable in a certain area will be gothered together and sent to a network node. In this case you are sharing the network resources with people living around you, and you know the maximum transfer speed for coax cable is fixed which means the bandwidth is fixed, so if there are more people using the internet at the same time, you will get net congestion for everybody has to get a certain amount of resources from the fixed resources. It's like 100 people to share one watermelon or 10 people to share one watermelon, you can figure out in which case you can get more watermelon.....So when you live in an apartment there are more people living around you which means more people are sharing resources with you..you are gonna get less resources when everbody is using the resouces...Plus if you are using rogers cable for your TV, that will also drain the resources....

Type cable VS ASDL on some website you may bunchs of interesting stuff concerning this...good luck更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
