    • 1. no trouble for normal glasses. 2. u need plastic slippers for summer and water sports, 'cotton' slippers for winter.
      • It's very kind of you to help me. Your response was very useful for our stuff. I have a another knotty problem:我已知道男士需备棉质T 恤及衬衫各10件以上,因若在公司上班的话须每天一换,那么外套及外裤呢?
        • for coat and pants,
you can try to wear one set on monday and wednesday, one set on tuesday and thursday, and another set on Friday. it's not hard to make all these combinations if u have 2 to 3 coats and 2-3 pants. but in winter the same thick outfit should be ok.

nowadays most people, except very very formal occasion, wear business casual suits(excluding jeans, sneakers, anything with holes, and sportswear) from monday to thursday, and probably jeans on friday(depending on your company's dress code).
        • and it's important to take shower every day and wash hair at least once two days. if u don't do it or don't change clothes every day, people will think you didn't go back home last night.
    • change cloth...
is very important. The rule of business casual is polo pants and shirt
inside the building. You NEED to change pants and shirt EVERY DAY. A
lot of we guys don't care, but from my experience, the money you invest
in your appearance is at least or more important than the money you
      invest in your knowledge.

By the way, your English name would seem better if you change it to
Vic or Vick. Pay attention to the ending 'y' which implies candy or
feminon. For example, the name James is better off to be Jim than Jimmy.
      Sorry for that.
      • hehe, it must be a lady.
    • Sorry, maybe you are a girl, then you are okay to be with the ending 'y'
      • Thanks all of you a lot! Yes, I'm a lady. Anyway, Wjiang is warmhearted .For a potential Canadian, I will have been preparing for necessary stuff of ours---My husband, my daughter and I.
    • The reason I raised the ending "Y" issue is many HonKong men use xxxY as their name and let people all of a suddent think that HongKong is dominated by femaled man..
      • haha, that's true, they'd like to be called sunny, tommy, jimmy...all sound like childhood name. but they ARE names for MALE.
        • some times, they invent names by adding an edning 'y' to any male name :-)
    • Rolia.com is really a very useful web site for a potential Canadian, and everybody here is kind and sympathetic.
      • you are welcome. and it's enjoyable to answer your questions since you always make it very clear.
        • Thank you very much. You are so kind.
    • I met a problem when I went shopping today.
      • 1. electric stove or gas 2. same as in China 3. not really. I even brought back micrawave-usable containers. Go get such stuff at Canadian Tire, Zellers, or Walmart.
        • Your response helped me a lot. You mean that it may be an electric stove which would be used in Canada, not an electromagnetic stove, right?
          • no problem at all. so far I haven't heard that anybody uses such electric-magnetic stove at home.
          • but be aware that your 炒锅 has to be either plain bottom or round bottom with something to hold it on the stove. otherwise you have to hold it all the time when you cook.
            • Oh, I see.
    • you are so thoughtful, consider so many things
      • I think I should be a competent housewife.
        • maybe
