    • I am flattered. I am just a programmer like you.
Sorry to let you know that Delphi has little market. Even you are lucky to get a Delphi job, you cannot sleep well.

Java have two directions: Enterprise and Micro Java. Both can offer us good opportuties to earn a living. Of course, DB is essential for an application programmer. Networking is a black box for most Java programmers.

I know many Chinese programmers look down upon Java. Some people always complain Java has no good performance.
Actually, absolutely good performance is not necessary in the real life. This is why Java has a good martket though it is somehow slow.

I hope you are not blind to Java. I don't advise you to learn Java. However, I strongly suggest you learn something new.
      • Thank you very much for your advice.

        • I am too old or too old to make any predicions for the future
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Since you are learning Java, you should master Servlet/JSP, or EJB, or Micro Java.

We individuals have limited time and energies. If you have experiences in MTS, COM, DCOM, it is definitely good. LIkewise,
if you have CORBA experiences, EJB should be a piece of cake for you. However, if you are just moving from desktop application to enterprise application, please be sure to choose a direction. The most important thing is that we are experts in some field.

Some people have a lot of "knowledge". They can tell you what is good for EJB, what is good for DCOM, what is poor for CORBA, .... they can be a boss, a manager, but they usually are not good programmers. Because of our language background, most of us have to do programming. We cannot llive on talking to poeple and writing some proposals.

I do believe Java won't die within 3 years.
So it is worthy of our studying.

By the way, not all the IT people have clear minds. Right now, many projects are developed using Java simply because Java is hot on the market. It is a good opportunity for us to make money!更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
          • Technology changes so quickly!
I believe that java won't die within next several years. But as a programmer, one must learn and learn and learn .... for ever.

Now I am confused with the following:

The more I know about java, the deeper java is for me. Time is limited new learners. We can't study everything about java. So I decide to study just one field of java at now. Is my decision right? Can java be divided as servelet/jsp, or EJB or micro java?

Do you have some suggestion about this?

            Thanks a lot!
