    • I have a question for you.
If you are a RN in any one of the provinces in Canada, do you have to repeat the exam process if you wanna become a RN (or whatever other name they called) in US? For example, if you are going to the Washington State just south of BC...

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛1, No, you don’t need to repeat the Exam as long as your RN licence is not expired in any one of the provinces in Canada. The Exam is the national Canadian RN Exam, so same at any province. You do need apply for registration in different province once you travel to work there. You just need to pay initial registration fee (around 200 dollars) at RN association or the new name College of RN under the Health Professions Act, and then you can get the temporary licence to show your employer your legal working status. The RN association will inform you later if your registration is processed smoothly or any other requirement needed.
2, For applying US RN licence, you have to pass the NCLEX, the US RN Exam, if you would like to work in States. What is more, you got to pass the CGFNS (Commissions on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools), which including TOFEL, TSE and other basic nursing knowledge exam, for TN Visa Screen purpose after July 25, 2004 if your initial nursing education is not gotten in North America.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
        • Thanks very much! So based on what you said, my understanding is:
          1. If you work in Canada, no more exams are needed.

          2. If you work in US, you have to rewrite the US version of the exam NCLEX. If you work in US and your degree is not from North America, you have to write the CGFNS exam? If you work in US and your degree is from north america, then NCLEX is the only exam required...

So if you wanna work in US, you can't get a waiver or anything for your Canadian exam.

          Thanks again.
          • You betcha.
          • VISA SCREEN CERTIFICATION INFORMATION
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛VISA SCREEN CERTIFICATION INFORMATION

            Who

All healthcare workers; registered nurses, LPN’s, physical therapists, speech language pathologists and audiologists, occupational therapists, medical technologists, medical technicians, clinical laboratory scientists, and physician’s assistants will be required to obtain a “Visa Screen” certification.

The Visa Screen is required when one is working in the United States on a temporary basis and those seeking permanent residence. As such, healthcare workers in TN status can no longer rely upon a blanket waiver from the visa screen for non-immigrant workers as under prior regulations.

            What

The certification must verify that the alien’s education, training, license, and experience are equivalent to that of a U. S. healthcare worker; that the alien has reached a level of competence in oral and written English; and that the alien has passed a test or examination such as the NCLEX exam or earned a CGFNS certificate. Healthcare professions other than Nursing do not require the CGFNS Certificate or NCLEX exam.

            When

After July 26, 2004, an extension of stay, a change of status to TN, or a new TN application at the border will not be approved without the visa screen certificate.

            Where

The visa screen will be obtained from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS), or an equivalent credentialing organization approved by the Department of Homeland Security.
For Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists the “VISA SCREEN” certification can be obtained through FCCPT and NBCOT respectively. Web sites are: www.nbcot.org and www.fccpt.org

            Why

The Visa Screen has been implemented in order to verify that the education of a Canadian healthcare worker, as outlined above, seeking employment in the United States is comparable to that of their U.S. educated counter part.

            How

•Go to the CGFNS website at: http://www.cgfns.org/cgfns/index.html
•Go to: “Download Applications for any of CGFNS’ services directly from the website.
Download the application packet for the Visa Screen™ Visa Credentials Assessment program.
NOTE: Read all instructions very carefully before filling out all forms neatly and completely. Providing incorrect or incomplete information will delay the process
            Once all forms are completed:
            1) Forward all “Requested for Academic Records” form to the appropriate educational institution(s).
            2) Forward all “Requested for Validation of Registration/License” forms to the appropriate registration authority(ies).
            3) Send completed application (pages 4-7) and your payment to: International Commission on Healthcare Professions Attention: VisaScreen™: Visa Credentials Assessment
            3600 Market Street
            Suite 400
            Philadelphia, PA
            19104-2665
            U.S.A.

            Additional Information

Visa Screen certifications are valid for five years and must be presented upon each entry. If a nurse obtains her immigrant visa in Canada, she would at least have to show the visa screen certificate upon her first admission to the USA. It is possible that, after the first admission, the nurse who has obtained permanent residence will not be required to show the visa screen certificate.

Foreign workers receiving their green cards in the interim need not present the visa screen upon admission to the USA after a visit to Canada.

The cost of a Visa Screen is $325.00 (CGFNS exam/certificate)
The replacement cost is $50.00 (if you lose your certificate)
            Renewal $150.00 (after initial 5 year period)更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
