    park and ride
    kiss and ride
    kiss and drop

Essentially, learning English is kind of reformattiong of our brains. Some experts say 1500 words for enough for everyday life. But I find I need to learn more.

If you drive a car, probably you have already known the meaning of "park and ride", "kiss and ride", and "kiss and drop". I noticed these signs at some metro stations right after I came to America. But I understood the meaning of these things after I queried one of my Pakistanian friends. Let me try to explain one here. "Kiss and Ride" is a place before a metro or bus station. A wife drives car and send her husband to that place. The couple kiss each other. The husband go to work by taking a bus or a metro. And the wife drives home to do housework and drive again in the afternoon to pick up the husband. This is how "kiss and ride" is nominated.

Similarly, "Kiss and drop" is a place where you can drop a passender but you cannot stand for a long time.
    • Good!
    • I thought every one went to work by car. So in most cases one family has only one car? Thank you for your postings. What is “park and ride”? The place where one parks the car then go to take a bus or metro?
    • Kiss and ride is \"Wife kiss husband and then he ride the bus or subway\". So kiss and drop should be \"The bus driver kiss the passenger then the passsenger get off the bus\". Am I right?
      • No. I think you misunderstand the word 'ride'. The wife gives the husband a ride -- the wife sends the husband to a bus stop or a metro stop, then the wife drives back, while the husband goes to take a bus...
        • Yes I know. But I don't know what is a kiss and drop?
          • Kiss and drop mean the wife drop him to his office directly , then his wife go on her way(back to home or to office).
    • I am a little confused too. What is the difference between "kiss and ride" and "kiss and drop"?
      • up.
      • I believe basically they are the same. The real meaning behind this is SHORT TIME PARKING, but not KISS.
