    So to speak
    per our agreement

My CTO is a Canadian from Wennipig. He advocates speaking good languages. Since I joined him, I have found that my English communication skill has been greatly improved.

Surprisingly, my CTO likes to use the following idiom: so to speak.
Here is a good example: Each of our developers can fix 2-3 bugs each day, so to speak, and it is not a problem for us to go live by the end of September.

My human resource manger is American. There are a lot of Email communications between him and me, because I review some resumes for him and do job interviews on behalf of our team. Interestingly enough, most of his emails begin this way: "Per our conversation on the phone, I forward ....", or "Per your request, ....", or "Per our agreement, ......".
    • I look ‘per’ up in the dictionary, it says: ”per: according to, by.” Your note gives us a vivid example; But, what exactly does your CTO mean by “so to speak”?
      • so 'so to speak' means 'that is to say", 'that means', "in another word" ?
        • Sorry, I don't get you. It seems "'that is to say",..etc. should be followed by a corresponding sentence, rather than a sentence starting with "and...", in jabber's note.
    • I have the same question as Birdincage.
Also, last time you said after you post 99 items, you will quit Rolia. But I think as a person with credit, you should reach 999 item within your life, because you choose 3 digits from the beginning. Do you think too few people read them? No, they just do not like to reply as us.
      • I like to read Jabber's note too!
      • I agree with pyramid too.
      • i get benefit from jabber's note too.
