        其实，我想大家的真正目的是想搞点钱。
        那么，我们为什么不扩大一下我们的专业范围和思路呢。
        先来谈谈我的构想：
        第一：我们应先掌握北美人的需求，这比直接去掌握北美人的技术更 重要。这就需要市场调查人员，和所有这里人的意见。
        第二：掌握他们的需求的同时，还要了解当地的法律，及民俗。这就需要懂得法律的人员。及当地人的参与。
        第三：就是专业技术人员，包括硬件专业工程师，及软件工程师。
        其实，开始也没必要各个专业的专业人士凑齐才能开工。在这里有这么多的精英，各个都比老外的智商高，怎么就不能扶植一个象样的公司出来呢。如果有人牵头，雇佣几个固定的员工，其他的事情可以雇佣这里的精英们兼职，不是一举两得吗。

      本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛... might not be very practical if people can only access it remotely.

      You are not going to give people root access, are you? Then there will be some difficulties for an ordinary user. For example:

      1. Apply patches, which is a very important admin activity if you are going to expose your machine on the Internet.
      2. A lot of admin functionality is done in GUI. It'll be a bit challenging to set it up correctly. My suggestion is to use ssh tunneling, but your user will lose the chance of setting up things like openssl and openssh.
      3. The major difference between solaris sparc and x86 is sparc has OpenPROM, and remote users will be out of luck in that aspect.
      4. The environment will be ideal for software development, but users can setup solaris x86 on their own machine, which will be very convenient for them, and development environment is the same.

      I'm not trying to discourage you, don't get me wrong. Like I said, it's a very good idea but it might need some more consideration. I think gathering together from time to time will help a lot, but again, that only applies to people in your area...更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

          本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛1. Go to http://www.sun.com and download Solaris 8 CD images, and burn them to CDs. I believe you just need the first 3 CD images. Make sure you get the Solaris for Intel, not Sparc.

          2. Go to http://docs.sun.com and follow the Solaris 8 link. There are a lot of document collections but you'll probably need to read these:

          1) Solaris 8 Installation Collection
          a) Solaris 8 (Intel Platform Edition) Installation Guide
          b) Solaris 8 Advanced Installation Guide (read this later on)

          2) Solaris 8 System Administrator Collection
          a) System Administration Guide, Volume 1
          b) System Administration Guide, Volume 2
          c) System Administration Guide, Volume 3
          d)Solaris Naming Setup and Configuration Guide (just the NIS and DNS section is enough I believe)
          e)Solaris Naming Administration Guide (same as above)

          3) Solaris 8 User Collection (just the CDE is enough I believe)

          3. While you are reading the above, try to install it, configure it according to the document. Mind you, it will be a long and boring process. But if you manage to finish, you'll have a very good grasp on Solaris.

          4. After all the above, you might want to go to http://www.sunfreeware.com to install a lot of precompiled software packages. Some of the packages are quite out of date (like apache), some of them are quite up to date (eg. samba). For those out of date packages, you might want to create your own packages (refer to the instructions on that site).

          After all the above, you might want to try out Linux/*BSD and you will find out it'll be much easier.

      I have been working in Canada for 5 years and was a team lead for 2 years. Worked with some white guys on a start up project in 1998. But Canada is not US, the company vanished because of financial problem.

      However, I would like to help new comers by sharing some experience and guide on software engineering stuff.

      Some guys want to be an architect by learning. Actually the design knowledge is also important for developers.

      CLUB 的真正意义在于交流. 如果只是一个人每周准备一个演讲, 其余的人只是来听, 这就失去了交流的实质, 这样的团体也长久不了.

      每个参加的人, 最好都要有给别人介绍经验的准备, 不论是硬件还是软件方面, 甚至于做市场的人, 和做组织工作的人, 都会使这个CLUB得到收益.

      如果有20个人参与, 每周一次讲座, 平均每个人5个月才会演讲一次. 应该不会有很多人害怕这种频率. 应该有一些具体要求, 比如说, 要有3个组织者, 演讲人应当写一个提纲(OUTLINE), 提前至少2周交给组织者, 组织者要REVIEW和安排时间和地点.
