  • 枫下家园 / 生活杂事 / 想配眼镜,大家有什么经验之谈么?我没有benifit,但有个朋友有又用不上,如何 转给我?大家都在那家店里配的?感觉如何?
    • Easy. Go to the Chinese store (loads of Chinese stores in the Pacific Mall - Kennedy/Steeles). You use your own prescription, choose the frame you like and bargain with them.
When the deal is done, they are supposed to give you a receipt. On the receipt, put your friend's name so that your friend can send the receipt to his (her) insurance company to get the money back.
      • thank you very much for your information. 我前段时间去医生那里查了视力,是否用健康卡每年只有一次的免费?另外有没有具体店家的推荐?
        • Could you tell me where the loction of your doctor, my wife need some visual check, Thanks!
          • It's in China town "wen hua zhong xin" , first floor beside the "649" lottery. but i don't like that doctor very much...(hard to say how, just don't feel good.)
          • You go to those big malls and will find the eye doctor’s (optometrist) clinics. Some big eyeglasses stores also have optometrists, for example, Hakim
. If you live in north Scarborough, you can go to the Woodside Square, Scarborough Town Center. You can try WalMart too.
            • Thanks, 可可茶 and cornflake, the information is very helpful to me!
          • 在有的眼镜店里就可以检查。
            • Thanks,风筝
        • You are right. You can have your eye examination once a year, which is covered by OHIP (Health Card). And the prescription is valid one year.
I bought my pair in a store at the Pacific Mall early Sept. Before we got started, I told them I could get only $150 from my insurance company. They kept this in mind, and recommended the frame and lenses (including the magnetic sunglass clip) to me, which cost me $169 in the end. I paid $169 upfront, and later filled out the claim form and sent the form and the receipt to my insurance company. They mailed me the $150 check one week later, which I think was efficient enough. So I ended up paying $10 for this pair. Check out the stores like Fushi (like Fuji), or Yishi (sorry, cannot input Chinese) on the second floor of the Pacific Mall.
          • Got your information...Thanks again!
