    请问在VANCOUVER买房或拥有自己住房的朋友,一套20万左右的TOWNHOUSE新房,住房保险大概包括哪些部分,大概要多少钱一个月。

          Why not just call the insurance company for quotation? Probably the good deal is with your auto insurance company since it will give you discount if you have both auto and home insurance with them.

            There is only one car insurance in BC called ICBC. It is a semi-government company. They don't sell house insurance.

        • In Ontario, there's Ontario New Home Warranty Program. Each warranty period begins on the date that the home is completed for possession.
          • Warranty is warranty, insurance is insurance; no mess-up.
            • Probably I didn't make it clear: New Home Warranty Program is a kind of insurance program; It's mandatory for builders and buyers don't pay extra cost to be protected.
              • For a new house, it has to be under both warranty and home insurance. And as a buyer, I have to pay CND$850 for the Ontario New Home Warranty. Nothing is free in Canada. Even if you did not pay, it is hidden in price.
                • Never would there be an issue in mortgage application for a new home buyer in terms of ONHWP enrollment.
                  • Do not understand what you really mean. CDN$850 is the cost of ONHWP itself. I think verbal communication works better than typing. 8-)

                • Extra insurance policy has nothing to do with ONHWP. You could always buy some at your own wish if allowed in your budget. But for RESALE homes, different story.

                      To address the very original query, in Ontario, new home buyers don't have to buy any insurance policy as long as they pay off their purchase. However, as linmeimei has stated, banks will urge you buy insurance policy if you apply mortgage from them. It applies to resale homes too in this sense.

                      Don't wanna be misleading or confusing, you know. It won't bother me if we get to the point ultimately.

          • It won't be the case for NEW home buyers, as I've described upstairs; It's builders' mandate to have their new projects enrolled in ONHWP.

              close the deal on the closing date.
          • It's clear insurance is related to your mortgage application only. As long as you pay off, no mandate for you to purchase any insurance policy.
