not to scare you to faint, i experinced -39deg (incl wind factor), exposing 10min outdoor made me eyeball yes, eyeball, tong

well it is the extreme, normally, i would say the 'pure' temp is roughly -15 day to day in the cold time. it is not that bad if you take bus or have your own transportation, where are you?

you dont have to expose to cold too long, ottawa has THE BEST public transportation, if u 'calculate' your waiting time to minimze your exposure to chilly weather, it is really not that bad

quite good a medium-size city, to name a few---the hill, dows lake/confederation park (esp tulip season) among nmerous other parks (mooneys bay, vicent massey...); in QC side,

the gatineau park is a must-see for all seasons; casino de hull;
local shopping, hiking, whitewater sports, even several nude bars... all fun
btw ottawa is not far from 1000island lake, montreal, algonquin...
And parliment hill. Every winter, there is a winterlude which is a kind of like winter festival .
