    the hot spot

Just imagine how you feel if you sit on a hot spot. In Chinese language, we ofen describe some people as "the ants on the hot spot". I don't know whether the English-speaking people have this notion--- the ants on the hot spot. However, I do know that the native English-speakers talk about the "hot spot". For instance, my manager often undertakes some responsibilities in my favor. In his words, "I don't want to put you on the hot spot". Obviously, it is not a pleasant experience to be on the hot spot. It seems to me that many fingers point at me as I am on the hot spot.
    • I am not sure if you were on a hot spot, it is to say you are hurry and worried, or you made a mistake and all the others accused you?

If you are put on the hot spot, many people will pay attention to you. But this conveys strong nagative meaning---- people think you made some mistakes and you should take responsibilties for something. It is really not a good thing to be on the hot spot.
