Because the market doesn't need so much Cisco. However, it is
once in always in. There is far less people knows Cisco than
any programming language.

In order to get a Cisco Job, you need to have very good command
in English. It is also true for Telecommunication and System
Adminstration. These jobs require you communicate with many
people. For example, you must be able to describe the Topology,
product lines, various terminologies. Say for example, you want
to implement a VPN of Frame Relay. You may need to describe
DCLI, Trunk, Bandwidth as well as the Topology. Worse, if somebody
has different idea, you would need to fight with him to demonstrate
your solution is better. Worst, if you trouble shoot a Cisco
problem, you will have to cooperate with vender's Technical Support,
your peers, experts of other products and technics, and your manager
or even your customers. If you have had experience in China, you
must be able to understand what I mean. Jobs in Networking and
System Adminstration require you talk more than any other IT
jobs.

Also, you will need to know many other technics. It is hard
to discuss how Cisco is bad or good as an IT major here
in the forum. I would have to write a long essay. If I were
you who has good Cisco background, I would not give it up
and turn to JAVA. Instead, I would try to improve my English
ability and widen my technical knowledge.
