本人亲身经历！我上次是因病住院，延误了返加时间(在中国呆了9个月左右)，过关时如实填表，于是被要求与移民官面谈(也就是去新移民办手续的地方)。我的文件准备非常齐全，住院证明，所有化验单据，费用明细，公证...移民官非常nice,是个帅小伙，根本没要看文件，只问我为什么晚了，在中国做了什么，这次是否准备在加长呆等等，就让我过了。最终还递给我一小册子，说下次如果可能在境外呆的时间较长的话，看一下小册子该做哪些准备。

我也对这个damn 183天深恶痛绝。说两句。我曾经与一个律师聊天。他说曾亲自去机场为因为超期被拒的移民成功辩护。向移民官认个错即可。他认为移民纸就是永久居住的保证。仅供参考。

when meeting the immigrant officials in Pearson airport, you just simple give them your 'document'. Normally, they will change the original landing date which you entry Canada to the given date. However, the previous days you stayed in Canada before leaving Canada are still count for the 'Canadian Citizen'.

alternative option back from the states: (not recommanded in some given situations)
the border official will ask you how long and where you have stayed in the states while checking your landing paper and stamp on your China passport. Of course, you can simple answer, "3 days in NYC"
Additionally, probably, they will be willing to look at your I94(white card) and try to take it back. However, here comes the risky part: let's say you have a US visa; were just out of JFK airport(where you got I94 when entering the US); took the greyhound bus from NYC midtown 39 or 42th station and heading to the border. Now, here is a big problem occurs if the Canadian border official look your just-issued I94 with stamped from JFK airport or any other US airports, but not 'habor'. Under no circumstances, could you get a I94' white card ' not issued by US custom officials from Canadian and US broder officials or Canadian airport, but by the US international airport.
