          work-related discussion is a must, lunchhour small talk is pretty easy going too. knowing a topic, talk more, not knowing much, play by ear.

          one point to you--- impression is that you are from (or in) UW, do not be shy, relative lack of confidence is my compatriots' nature,which should be overcome I was there doing study/RA/TA years, local undergrads are the same human being as we are. BE YOURSELF. and good luck.

          even tho u use chinese and in china, u still face 聊天的时候我基本查不上话, just show how nice and how ez-to-get-along you are. if u r relatively new in ur team, that is fine, but if u have been there fro awhile, and still unwilling to or unable to communicate with them in out-of-major topics, better rootcause from your own. good luck

      本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I am working in a company which I am the only non-canadian person. Sometimes I feel boring and lonely. People here normally are friendly, but it's still uncomfortable to talk with them using the second language especially when you just want to relax and talk. Try to ask them something you are interested in. In this way, they will be happy because they feel that they can help somebody, and you will be happy too because you can learn more. It's really not good to keep silence in the office. Say she or he looks great in the morning and say have a nice night at the end of the day. If you see their children's photos on the desk, you can say they are pretty or.... Communication is the only way to create a nice working environment for you.

      It's must be tired to drive on the high way for one hour everyday. But I am sure when you are getting used to do that, you will feel better. Driving can be terrible if you are nervous. But, It's also can be fun.

      I still remember once rolia DX WJang said, "smile, girls. Nobody will get mad when a girl working with a smile on their faces. "

EVERYTHING FAMILAR CAN BE THE TOPIC: DOG, CAT, BASEBALL, SMOKING, DRINKS, SEX...JUST TRY TO SPEAK AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND BRING ABOUT AS MANY JOKES AS POSSIBLE. NO ONE WILL SAY "HEY MAN, BUGS IN YOUR GRAMMAR" OR "HEY YOU SHOULD USE THIS OR THAT TERM", UNLESS YOU REALLY FUCK UP THE COMMUNICATION. ALL OF SUDDEN, YOU FIND YOU ARE ONE OF THE GROUP ALREADY!

      So choosing a smaller group is probably a better resolution, at least before you get your English ready.
