    1。如果我的预产期是12月,而我6月就停止了工作。产假补贴在预产期前8周才能开始休,是按照6月之前26周内我工资总数除我工作周数后的55%计算,还是预产之前所有工作和未工作周数的平均值算?
    2。我见网友写道:停止工作就应该申请,预产期前8周才能开始申请休假,即我6月申请,但向有关部门要求10月开始休,这样讲法正确么?
    3。是否所有假要在一年之内领完?如我6月份申请之日算起,10月开始领产假,到明年6月也就只有8个月时间,那么请问产假和父母假可不可以同时领。例,12月15生,在10月15日开始领产假,然后从11月15日开始同时领取产假和父母假?
    4。如果是工作是半年的合同,是否要为此雇主工作13周以上才可以申请?

    • Sorry, no Chinese input. 1. It's based on your due date, so total 26wks earning before December. If you stopped earlier, it will drop down your total earning then your benefit (55% of your last 26 wks earning).
      2. No, you need apply within 3wks from the date you stopped working (not earlier). Also the earliest time you can start to collect benefit is 8wks before dd. The first 2wks are waiting period, means you won't get any money at all, then your benefit will be dated back and kick in from the 3rd wks you stopped working.

      3. Maternity leave is 15 wks for mom only. Parental leave is for the couple to take care of the baby, it's 35wks for a couple, can be started from the delivery date (no earlier). If you take it all, you will have 50wks leave altogether during which you can collect the benefit. You can not take both at the same time.

      4. For contract or part-time job, you have to work at least 600hrs(not sure, maybe 700) within a year to be eligible for the UI benefit.

      • Not exactly. The 2wks waiting period is included into 15wks. So the earliest time is 15wks before dd. However, if you can work longer before
        delivery, then you can transfer over some maternity leave after delivery and have more time to take care of baby.
      • Sorry, made a mistake. The earliest time is 8wks before dd (not 15wks). There are 7wks for you carrying over to recover from delivery.
        • Jello,我查了有关EI的政府网站,Maternity benefits's Maximum payable is 15 weeks, Parental benefits's Max payable is 35 weeks. Thank for your answer.

          • Michelle, If your dd is December, from last year December until dd, as along as you have worked 600hrs during this period, you'll be eligible to apply for EI. The amount you will get is based on your last 6mon(26wks)
            total earning as I know. The 15wks Maternity leave must be taken partly before delivery and left after delivery, you can not take all of them before your dd. In your case, I strongly recommend you to call Human Resources Development Canada (18002067218).

          • freedom,我觉得Jello说的是最早前8周(或应该是前10周,2周等候)才能享受M,还有7周可以在生之后,应该是不能提前20周就辞职吧?还有,Jello,不是交申请之日前一年工作满600小时么?为什么你说是从DD到去年12月呢?谢谢
          • Freedom is right. If you want to get the most EI, the earliest time to start your maternity leave is 8wks before DD(means government thinks from then on you will be considered lost your working ability), then 7wks after
            delivery, then 35wks parental leave for staying at home taking care of the child. If you stopped working 20wks before DD, that's your choice, however, it will drop down your EI. Sorry, I made a mistake again, the 26wks and 600 hrs are not from DD, it is from the date you applied for stopping work.
