some ideas in non-IT fields, like Priamerica? I'm so interested in it, but don't know how to join it and how to get Life Insurance 和 Mutual Fund. BTW, what's Rich Dad Poor Dad? Thank you for your help!
    • Send your telephone number to my email box. I will call you.
      • Thank you very much! I've e-mailed my phone number to you. Look forward to your call! Thanks again!
    • hey, it should be Rolia, not Olia, right? Anyway, here is my suggestion on license for Mutual Fund, as I worked for one Mutual Fund company before .....
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛If you want to get some license for Mutual Fund, such as operation license, or if you want to sell mutual fund, you'd better go to register for IFIC's exams.

IFIC : The Investment Funds Institute of Canada.
Location: 5th flr, 151 Yonge Street, ( the whole floor)
Subway: get off at the Queen station
Cost: eg, for Mutual Fund operation course which I took,
CDN 180 - non industry student
CDN130 - industry student, whose employer is also
dealing with mutual funds, such as Fund company, or dealer
      * Different course and exam has different price.
As I was working in the supporting dept, so I only took operation course and exam. If you want to sell mutul fund, you have to write sales exam.

The operation exam is not difficult, especially when you are working in this industry. It only took me a month to pass it. But I heard the sales exam is more difficult. As I am not a saleswoman, sorry I can't give any suggestion on buying Mutual Funds, though it's RRSP season right now.

If you want to study for a broader range, you'd better take CSC, Canadian Security Course, which is the basestone for entering the financial industry. If you got the CSC certificate, it would much easier for you to apply for a job in the financial industry. It includes two assignments and one final exam. You have to complete two assignments within six mths, otherwise you will loose the qualification to write the final exam. This is really a good method for CSC to make money. 'cause if you couldn't hand in two assignments in time, you have to subscribe the tuition fee again to reapply. See? CSC is soooo smart.

Cost: CDN 450 ( including three thick textbooks and supporting materials, but if you want to attend the seminars to improve comprehension on financial stuffs, you have to pay another CDN 250, sth like that, I forgot.)
      * This price is for non industry student, it's much cheaper for industry student, sth around 280... But wait, though I was in mutual fund company, I belonged to non industry student, so you could see how narrow the definition of industry student!

Location: 15th flr, Standard Life Building ( it's on the King street, near the intersection of King and York)
Subway: get off at King station

You'd better find sb work with you to accomplish the assignment, otherwise it's so easy to get lazy to get them done within the deadline. That's my experience.

Okay, that's my suggestion for mutual fund, sorry I don't have any idea about the life insurance.

      Wish you good luck..

Got to get back to study... Good day. Lumlum ^_^更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
      • Thanks Lumlum.
        • You are welcome. When will you take your driving road test? Good luck. Lumlum ^_^
          • Thank you for your suggestion! Sorry for the wrong typing! What's the requirement when I apply for the exam? Have a Good day! Thanks again!
            • Actually they don't have specific requirements....
As long as you have money, that's it. The key is, whether you could pass the exam or not, even though you are a monkey, xixi,, just kidding.

Go register, get the book, study it, then write the exam, it's very simple...

              lumlum
              • Hi, Lumlum, you're so great, thx! If I'd like to have my own business, what kind of license should i take? If i'm a job seeker, what kind of license should i take as my start in the field? I appreciate your responce! Have a great day/night!
              • Hi, Lumlum. Are you with a financial background when you landed? I'm not a financial-oriented guy. I don't know how long should i take to start my new career. I'm i'll be limited in Chinese community, without English. Can we share your experience?
                • About financial background.,,,,
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I wish I had. But I didn't. I only had some working experience in marketing and sales field when the first time I came here. And I do love my former jobs in China. It's impossible to find the same or similar jobs here, for the sake of language and culture obstacles. So, I had to give up.

It's so happen that I got a chance to enter that financial company, working in the supporting dept. Then I started from the very beginning. As I didn't have any idear about Canadian Mutual Fund market, or even basic knowledge. But fortunately, I was brave to ask everything new, and learned as soon as possible. As long as you were in that industry, and you were willing to learn, everything would be a piece of cake. But if you were not in that industry already, don't get upset. You could put more time and energy on those materials to absorb and digest them. Build up the good learning habbilt to pay as much as possible attention to anything relative with mutual funds, stocks, or whatever insurance, then you could be successful too.

The key is, ask yourself, if you were really interested in this field, or you just wanted to switch to an industry which you think could make more money, or make money easier. You would make it, if you were really interested in it, and focused on it. I believe.

                  Good luck.

It's really a sunny weekend here. The feeling is very wonderful. Wish you have a nice weekend.

                  • Thank you for your help! You did help me. Thanks a lot! Best wishes to you.
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Thank you for your help! You did help me. Actually, I'm waling outside of Canadian job market. I haven't decided what's the exact way i should take. The important isn't the major which it's my oringal major or not. I have degrees and exprience in various fields. The important is whether I can have my own career in Canada (actually, in North America). It's better i can have the chance to promote myself, surely if i have the decision, i will try my best. So i think the experienced profession's talk is very important to me. BTW, yesterday i have a talk with Primerica.

I have a friend, she has the accouting and business background, and she had her business in China. But because her English isn't so good, so the financial industry will be a good selection to her. But she knows nothing about it, and the only way she heard about the industry is from me. Actually, some questions i'd asked are for her. She's not familiar at computer and internet. Your successful experience would affect her.

You're so kind, and your words are very useful. Thank you veru much! Best wishes to you. Keep in touch!更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
                    • Could I give you and your friend another suggestion, hope you won't be angry.
It's very very important to improve our language ability, if we want to survive or get successful in north america. You could find many previous posts in this forum on how to improve our english.

I do understand you and your friend are focusing on Chinese market, but I strongly encourage you to push yourself to improve English, which also will be helpful on everything here.

BTW, thank you for your appreciation, I am really flaterred, but I also feel embarous. I am too far away from what you described.

But I will work hard to pursue my dream. No matter to be a successful businesswoman, or a wonderful housewife. Xixi... Actually I am good at that too.... xixi... ( I mean housewife)

                      Good day, lumlum ^_^
                      • Friend's words are always important to me.
Thx! Me and my friend are studying English now. Improving a language skill is very difficult. In China, I had a good feeling in English, but not here. Actually, it's one of the reasons I come here. I just take the touch with a Torontian as languge exchange. Hope it will work. Best wishes to you!
                      • BTW, what kind of language and code did you use for your detailed Intro? It's so exception to read.
                        • Sorry, I don't catch you. Do you mean when reading those exam materials and books? Of course in English. I don't think they have any in Chinese, even those reference books.. Sorry...
                          • Sorry. 不好意思,我没讲清楚。我是指会员个人资料里的detailed Intro。Wish a good night!
                            • Sorry again, what's " Hui Yuan"? Thx.
                              • It's for "Member's Details @ rolia.com. Have a good night!
      • Thanks, Lumlum! It's a good suggestion. But, what's industry student and non industry student? Enjoy a great day!
        • Well, about industry student,
they have their explanation, so you could find a detailed list for relative companies they defined at the reception desk.

I can't remember very clearly now. Go to the desk or you could even make a call to ask your question, or go to the website.

Call 411 to find out the tel #, sorry I don't have in hand.

          Good day, lumlum
          • Thx! You're greater than 411. Enjoy a good day and night1
