  • 工作学习 / IT杂谈 / This is a simple interview
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I am going to hire one more Java programmer for my team. I don't want to ask the candidate too many questions. I am going to ask him/her to write a SessionBean to compute the power of integers. After that, he/she is supposed to write one Java application and one Java servlet as the clients of EJB. The business requirement is that Java application/Java servlet sends two integers to the EJB component and receive a result and display it into Java console/browser. I have done all the things and "deployed" my results to a machine, and the candidate can first have a look and feel what I want (a working prototype). I have setup the WebLogic server on the machine. I will give the candidate two hours. He/She can call his/her friends for help. He/she can go to the internet to get references.

If the candidate can reproduce my working demo, we are going to him/her. Actually, if anyone learning Java can finish this task within two hours, I count him/her a competent Java programmer. Sorry for showing off.
    • You begin talking about IT again?^_^
      • I am terribly busy now. And I found talking some trivialities about English langauge is a relaxation ...
    • too easy
      • Nice to hear people say it's easy. :-) ;-) :
Unfortunately, some people will get bogged from the very beginning with the CLASSPATH issue. They don't know where to get javax.ejb.* and javax.servlet.*.
        • sign, what kind of people are you looking for. developer?
        • PetStore,a good example application for learning J2EE, can be downloaded from www.java.sun.com
            • Here is a link. You can also find other documents from java.sun.com http://java.sun.com/features/2001/12/petstore13.html#source
    • are u looking for developer here? I like this type of interview, just show what u can do!
    • Don't fooling around here.
    • i really don't like this kind of interview, cos i don't know how to write the code without helpfile, hehe, but i can finish it within 2hours (give me help file& internet)
it seems every boss in canada does not want to find talent developer but experienced developer, what a pitty
    • I learned Java less than a month. If you let me use Internet in the interview, I could finish it. God bless! The problem maybe it's hard to get an interview by doing a EJB. Salute!
    • Yup, the coding part is not difficult, but the configuration of weblogic is harder than it, especially for the new version. It has changed a lot. :(
    • Too easy !!!
2 hours? are you crazy? if I can't finish it in half hour, I will give you hundred bucks. It's too easy. Just a simple question for you, can you use ejb ( message driven bean, entity bean or session bean ) to implement a JMS listener on Weblogic which can be controlled to start/stop, pause/resume, register/unregister. Please don't break J2EE specs. If you can finish this in 2 hours, I give my job to you. ( 6 number salary ). ^_$
    • So we can know where you are from the way you set the interview
Your way of interview is of course a valid one. Instead, I've seen too many companies hire poeple just by blah, blah and end up with a guy can just blah, blah.

However, it's based on a major assumption, that is: you just want to hire a normal person who can do coding. Because the job you give to the interviewer is too simple. Of course, you don't want to hire a person better than you.

There is a thread in www.theserverside.com on "how to interview a programmer?", but that's for hiring a good person, not suitable for you.
      • it posted two years ago. how can you find it?
        It's really a small cake.
