If you like Nature, Ottawa maybe better. It has Gatineau park just right across the river. Ottawa is not quite populated so it does not take long to drive before you see countryside

3. Career
If you are in software or finance industry, Toronto is definitely better place to go. Most of application software is developed in Toronto.In general Toronto should be easier to find a job.
Ottawa have better chance to find a government job or a position in telecom company. Yes, telecomm is in pretty bad shape right now but it is going to bounce back next year for sure.

4. Food&house
Toronto is definitely convinient for Chinese food especially Chinese Restaunt.
House is much more expensive in Toronto.

Personally I like Ottawa a lot and enjoy the life here. When I get bored, it's just 4 hours drive to Toronto and 2 hours in Montreal. If Montreal is not in Quabec, I probably would stay there :) It's a city much vivid in culture than Toronto.

The one beddroom you mentioned sounds like a basement.

Anyhow, what I am talking about is house price. Same house in Ottawa is much cheaper than in Toronto in similar area.

Of couse, if you lived in a basement in Toronto, that is another story, as there is little basement for rent in Ottawa.

It may not be good for newcomer to get a very cheap placeeither because it also means not safe.Similar apartment, Ottawa should be cheaper than Toronto. Plus you are providing false information here about apt only rented to whoever have a job. It can't be true because it means all OU or Carleton Students have to be homeless.

When I st landed in Toronto, felt T was so quiet, then moved to Ottawa and felt O was too quiet. Now I'm back in T, it's too noisy here :) T is good for fighting for ife and O is good for enjoying life:) -redbird(RedBird); 2002-2-8 (#362667@0)
