That's because when you double clicked on the server, you didn't ask for specific share. In order for you to see what's available on the server, you need to be authenticated. Hence the ipc$ thing.

After setup swanson/sws acount on win2k PC, restart you win98 PC and login win98 PC by using swanson/sws, you should be able to access the shared fold of win2k PC.

I really got headache. I have to set up the server and client, and i installed two different win2k version, either of them didn't allow the window98 access the shared folder.
make sure that u logon to windows network in win98, use the same workgroup as ur win2k.
