  • 枫下家园 / 生活杂事 / 请问各位大虾,登陆前考个驾照有用吗?哪里可以查到多伦多再驾照方面的规定?多谢了。
    • 哪位大虾帮帮忙!
      • Don't need. You can just buy one. Make the date as two years ago. When you apply new driver license here, just show them, they just need the date, they won't check it.
      • This can help you to save time to get driver license. This way works in Ontario. Doesn't work in Saskatchewan. Don't worry, easy to drive auto car in CA, just need know the rules.
        • If I learn to drive and have my driving license, I think it might help me to have my Canadian driving license easier. I am wondering what the regulations are in Ontario about driving license issuance. Thanks
          • That's not good thinking. If you have some chinese habit, difficult to pass test here. Something like show check. You can make a insurance cert in China.
          • If you do want to get a Chinese license, make sure the date of license is at least 2 years old. Otherwise it's of no use. I got a genuine license before coming here,
but the date is only 6 month ago (I didn't know the regulations). Finally it didn't help me at all. I had to wait 1 year after the written test to attend the G1 road test.
            • I studied the regulations carefully again and found that a Chinese driving license would help. Can you give more details?
It says: You must stay as a G1 driver until you have at least 12 months driving experience before you will be eligible to take the G1 road test to graduate to a G2 licence. It means to me that I have to accumulate up to 12 months of driving experience before I can take a G1 road test. The 12 months is calcualted from the day I have my Chinese license. If I don't have a license, I'll have to wait for 12 months before I can do a G1 road test.
        • With G1 license, your driving is conditional on a lot of things: first of all, you cannot drive alone, you must be accompanied by someone having at least 4 (?) years driving experience.
There are some other conditions as well, like you cannot drive on the highways of "4" series.
          • To my understanding, whoever needs to earn his or her driving license must first have a G1 license, a G2 license before he or she can have his or her first fully privileged license.
To my understanding, whoever needs to earn his or her driving license must first have a G1 license, a G2 license before he or she can have his or her first fully privileged license. If I can exchange for a G1 license, I would not need to enroll in a driving class which might be expensive both in terms of time and money. What's more, I might not leave for Canada very soon. I can do a lot of driving practice in China.
        • Well, fine, but the problem is whose car you are going to drive w/o certified license? You can not buy your car w/o license, you can not rent car w/o license. No one dare to lend you his car either.
          • That's really a problem. Who can buy a car? Someone with a G2 license or a G?
            • Theoretically everyone can buy his car provided he can get auto insurance required by law. Yes, G2/G holders qualify this. If G1 holder qualify as well? Yes, could be,
only if you are willing to pay the premium, which i believe is prohibitably high in this case.
          • Rochesr, You waited for 12 months for your G1 road test in Canada? Not 12 months since you got you Chinese driving license? Could you give more details about that?
            • My case is not typical: I waited nearly 12 months after I wrote my G1 to get my G1 road test, which led to G2 license. Yes I took a driving course in Toronto. Someone told me this shall shorten the
waiting time for road test to 8 (?) months from 12 months. I did not check the protocol clearly as I elected to wait anyhow. It costs almost the same for you taking a course here in TO or in China. If you want, you can finished your course here within 1 month. But I don't see any sense to do so.
              • An approved driver education course would shorten the waiting time to eight months.
          • 请问,上个driver education course 要花多少钱?通常需要多少时间?
    • I have been considering enrolling in a driving class, which would cost me 4500 yuan and about three months. Would it be cheaper in Canada? or would it cost less time?
