I am using SMC router to use cable. Do I still need firewall? Moreover, how can I open a FTP server on my machine, do I need to configue my router? TX.

How did you setup your router?(I wonder) It's using NAT, like a firewall, nobody can see your WS from outside. You need

give your WS a static internal ip( check your DHCP setting on router), setup allow FTP access to this WS on Router.

Symantec_Desktop_Firewall is the best one I have ever used, the zonealarm is fine but just fine.
