    If you go to swim in a swimming pool, you probably need to share a track with others. You have two ways to share. You may suggest to another person: "Shall we half-half, or circle?" By the way, if somebody else is already in and you just arrive, you may ask: "Can I go?"

    We Chinese like to describe somebody as a "Han Ya Zi". I don't know how to translate it into English. For the similar meanings, however, we can say "Sailor is no swimmer". I am just kidding---Sailor is very good at swimming.
    • By the way, we say "Yan Si Gui" in Chinese, which means a person who drowned. If put it in English, it does not read "a drowned ghost". -jabber(jabber); 2001-4-12 (#44933@0)

        In English, people don't curse others to be drowned. But in the story, you may see the following phrase: "It is a ghost of a drowned man". Bet people never say "a drowned ghost". Hope this can show you what is thinking in English.

        By the way. what I told you here is solid knowledge. I learned it from a linguistics book as I was in Shanghai.
