1. PR is not citizenship.
2. Once you apply for Canadian citizenship and get it, you are no longer Chinese citizen.
3. As long as you are Chinese citizen, you can renew your passport before it's expired.

good answer, but you didn't tell the China government you are Canadian citizen, they won't know. So you can always keep your Chinese passport. Don't show your Canadian passport when you go back to China

You need at least 3-4 yrs to get Canadian citizenship, and your Chinese passport can be only used for 5 yrs and after that each renewal only works for 2 yrs(for renewal you need to provide document from Canadian government that you are not citizen yet).
