    As I was in China, I did not get an opportunity to go McDonalds because I was so poor.

    I still remember how embarrassed I was as I went to McDonalds first time in the America. I simply could not open my mouth because I did not know the names of those menus. I found that "No. 1" is the cheapest so I pointed my finger at "No 1" to communicate with that McDonalds girl. What is worse, I could not understand "For here, or to go?".

    Later, I commanded all the English vocabulary about junk food by visiting a McDonalds shop on a Sunday. My first observation is that I could simply say "No 1" or "No. 9". How happy I was! Unfortunately, those McDonalds girls often ask "what drinks?" I got stuck again because I didn't know the names of those drinks.... Later I tried to order French fries only. However, I needed to answer the question of "what size?" . At that point, I asked a Chinese friend and he suggest "super". I think that was the very time I really got the meaning of the word "super". From that time on, I had a clear picture of "small, medium, large and super" ...

    Not long ago, I saw a posting by a friend who is still in China. She said that she and her husband speak fluent English. Mr. Egg commented that posting by saying "Another friend who speaks English fluently. Can you tell me your experiences so that I can benifit some?". But few friends take Mr Egg's comments seriously. Just remind you Fladimir Lenin's story----He could read and write English before he was exiled to London.       If I am not wrong here, Fil-o-filet is called "Mai Dang Yu" in China.

            the rates are so low. I have to do two jobs at the same time. Besides that, I am thinking if I am suitable for the haaaaard job coz I can't remember so many things. Such as one pickle or two in cheeseburger, Is the slivered or small onions in Bigmac and any lettuces in Bacon Ranch........

        My favorite is Chicken Nuggets and fries with some extra ketchup or barbecue sause.
        But the kids would like Mcflurry.

        I took the kids to McDonald's, and my friend's girl told me she wanted some french fries. I was so embarrassed since I didn't know want she really wanted.

      The first time I went to McDonalds is after one week I landed Canada because my little princess really wanted to eat that. So I had to gathered all of my strength to go there, the only thing I did was pointing to the picture my daughter chose, said "I want this", then Mc girl asked me a lot of question, I couldn't understand her question, I told her "please you decide something for us, we don't know these stuff at all". At last my daughter got all stuff she wanted.
      Untill now I still don't know all of the name in McDonalds's menus, but I do know I can get the thing I want because language is not the only thing you can use to communicate. Your gesture and expression is more common than language.

      We thought the only thing we need to do was just pointing out No. X meal. But we were totally wrong. The girl asked so many questions and we understood almost nothing at first. Fortunately, she asked us in the way of "sth. or sth.". So every time I told her one of these two sth.s no matter if I knew it and got our lunch at last with highly tensioned brains. From then on, we dare not go to the McDonalds. :P. But maybe we'll try again after learning a lot from jabber's and other friends' posts.

          here or to go, for here. drinks "orange juice", she asked me what size, I said medium. I at last got a big cup of orange drink, not what I imagined "fresh orange juice". I drank a little and left it on a table, I can't really like the drink I 'ordered'.

Once a time I bought a cloth in 'old navy' in california, she asked me what size, I replied 'middle', she then corrected me 'medium', I said, 'ah, yes, medium', so I didn't make similiar mistake in Mac to say 'middle' again. When I went to driving classes, I answered the teacher's question 'what is the charactors of rural roads', I said there were less oil station there. She couldn't understand me, one of my classmates corrrected 'gas station'. She understood it at last. For practice English, I went to western driving school and got English-speaking house agent, and talked a lot with sales ladies when I visited house sales offices. One of the job agents said to me, your English is quite good. did you practice here or you learnt a lot in China? I am so glad to hear that. My house agent told me my English is good too.
