  • 相约北美 / 移民留学 / Hi, I have a suggestion about the good salary work! And hope will be helpful to everyone.
I lived in Windsor which is near Detroit( just divided by a river). Here are more than 10,000 Chinese here. So you maybe will wonder why so many people in such a little city? Since many people live in Windsor but work in Detroit. You all know that the USA tax is lower than Canada. They work in the USA, not only get US dollors, but also prevent themselves from high tax. And they live in Windsor for three years, get their citizen. Then they will definitely go to the USA and work there.
Another suggestion is that if you could not find a job at first, don't be worried about it, I think maybe you could go to the university to get some diploma, it will be helpful for your future work.
    • I'm very intersting in your message. Thanks a lot for your kindness. Could you provide me some web sites which can seek job both in U.S and Canada?
      • Sorry, I am studying now. maybe you could use YAHOO.
    • false
      1) To which country you have to pay tax depends on where you reside, not where you work. If you live in Windsor, you have to pay tax to Canada unless you tell lies, which may result severe penalties.
      2) Detroit is the worst city I have ever seen, and the pay there is not good.
Not mentioning the pain of having to commute to and from Detroit and the hassle you have to experience when going through the US customs(usually there is a long waiting line of cars).
      • I heard the Canadian government now want to establish some law about the tax which is as I said before
What's more, which city do you like? If you have the choice, just do it. I have said that this is only a suggestion for somebody who is interested in it. The life is hard, don't complain so much about it. just enjoy it, then you will be happier, I think. By the way, it will take you 30 minute from Windsor to Detroit.
      • 偶老板要把公司转移到加勒比海的小岛上,因为那里没有税。当然,他和偶们大家还是在这里干活。不知道是怎么做成合法的?
    • what are you talking about?
      1, i live in canada
      2, i work in usa
3, i pay tax to usa
4, and the difference to canada
5, i have no intention to move to usa
      • That is your opion. You mean you think so, then everybody must think so?
        • look at yur language
"...get their citizen. Then they will definitely go to the USA and work there. "

why the heck are you so sure of "they"? u represent u only!

I not only think so, but also practise so. what is your profession, man/lady?
          • don't be so stingy! MAN
I am a student now, so that is not my opinion. I just heard of some friends who are doing so. And I think maybe it is a good idea for somebody. But not for you, OK?
            • good 4u, but it is YOU, not ME, who are affirmative in everything at 1st place, that is it. nan bu gen nu dou.
              • Hey, are you angry? Take it easy! I only want to give some useful information. That's all. I am not professional.
                • as the matter of fact, i smile, from ear to ear, you are a nice person :-)
                  • where are you live? Windsor? And where are you working?
                    • i lived in windsor, work for GM
                      • I am eager to know anything about Windsor.
I will stay in Windsor. It is not easy to find some info. about that city in China. I do not have friends there. Could you do me a favor? Tell me sth about Windsor, esp. house renting, daily expenses, anything you think useful...... thanks in advance.
                        • something about Windsor
The apartment in windsor cost 300-700, if you live in one bedroom and share everything with others, maybe 300. If you want to live in the whole apartment, maybe 700. The food may cost you 200-400 evey month depending on your standard.
There is no plane from Vancouver directly to Windsor, you should fly from Vancouver to Toronto then to Windsor.
                          • Thank you, Jane. Are you living in Windsor?
It seems that the rental is same as Toronto's. It is expensive too. Where could I find renting info.? I want to rent an apartment near Detroit. By the way, what is the cost for Motel, because we have to stay in Motel before we find an apartment? You could sent me mail at cindy_ma@yeah.net if it is easy for you. Many thanks!
                            • yes, I am in Windsor. I don't know the motel here. But I think it's easy for you to find a apartment near Detroit.
Since the University of Wndsor is just under the ambassador bridge which connect Windsor and Detroit. And there is a lot of rental information near the university. When will you plan to come? Better before August, since a large number of students will enroll in the university for the fall semestser.
BTW, I will try to find some information about the motel in Windsor and send to your mailbox.
                      • So if you think working in USA is not good for others, why you still do so?
              • Jane was just hoping to help others, take it easy.
                • To tell you the truth, I have no ability to help others, since I need help too. I only hope to give some information may be useful to someone. Since I got many useful info from ROLIA. That's the point!
    • Maybe not so nice as it sounds. It can maintain permanent residence, but may cause problem when it is time for citizenship. Also many Canadian citizens choose to pay the difference to Canadian government. There must be something we do not know.
      • yes, I heard the same thing, you need to pay the difference of taxes
        • detorit is the worst city of US, canadian told me you will never want to visit again. so many black, voilence.
          • thta is what all my Canadian fellows say. in some sense it is true, but i just wonder, any 1 of you has even been to its outskirt, for instance, Oakland County? MaComb County?
