    CPU 500M以上，128 MB RAM ，Internal Modem or PCMCIA 56K Card ， Data Backup Device (ZIP Drive, CD Writer, etc…) ，14.1‘ TFT，20M HD.

    另外还要能兼容如下无线卡：
    a wireless card that is 802.11b compatible.
    Recommend:
    Cisco 340 or 350 Series cards
    Xircom CWE1120 or CWE1130 (which is a Cisco OEM).
    WEP support is required, 40 bit encryption will be used, 128 bit will also be supported.

      sony laptop is very cost-effective, however, its previous reliability is doubtable. ibm one is always the most reliable laptop i have ever been used.
      regarding, 802.11b card, 3com one is good, do NOT buy dlink's card, it has problem when the system goes suspend. but u could buy dlink's access point, which is much cheaper than others..compatibility is not an issue.

      I had used IBM ThinkPad for 3 years, and have been using Dell since 1999. on my personal opinion, I NEVER use Japanese products. so I have no idea on those noteook made in Japan.
