  • 枫下拾英 / 心情随笔 / A stupid question: I have a third hand IBM 486, enough RAM, Modem, with WINDOws 3.1. If it is possible to install WIN98 on it, I want to use it to go to Rolia. How to do it, who can help. (No CDROM).
    • yes, you can. but no CD-ROM, how to copy installation files to your harddisk?
    • temporarily install your harddisk to another system which has a cdrom, copy win98 installation files to your harddisk, mount back the HD to your own system, launch "setup.exe"
CDROM support boot,
      so easy!
    • If you want to install Win9x, your machine should be at least 486-66DX with 16M RAM, 80M free HD space.
If you want to install Win9x, your machine should be at least 486-66DX with 16M RAM, 80M free HD space. For 486, Win95 + netscape 4.6+ is OK for web surfing with modem, But you might find to install a PCI NIC is difficult for a win9x 486 machine with 16M RAM, ISA 10M NIC is fine for 486. Hope this could help.
