If you want to install Win9x, your machine should be at least 486-66DX with 16M RAM, 80M free HD space. For 486, Win95 + netscape 4.6+ is OK for web surfing with modem, But you might find to install a PCI NIC is difficult for a win9x 486 machine with 16M RAM, ISA 10M NIC is fine for 486.
