          If keyboard has both midi-in and midi-out port, then midi out on midi cable has to go to keyboard midi-in and vice versa. After cable connection is done, try different midi-in and midi-out device under your PC. (I remember they can not be the same device)

                  1. Try midi out driver with "SYNTH" in it then then you should able to listen to music you created in Sonar on your speaker.
                  2. Try midi out driver with "MIDI out" or "MPU-401" , then you shold be able to listen music you created in Sonar on your keyboard.
                  Note: Besure to unclick use defaul midi-out in setting --> control --> sound
